Hello everybody! We’re back with a brand-new season of The Mind Full Podcast! I’m buzzing to bring you another season of celebrity guests, expert wisdom, and, of course, a few moments for you to take a breather from the madness of life. Whether you need a laugh or a bit of zen (or both), we’ve got you covered.
This Week’s Special Guest: Mary Bonnet from Selling Sunset
To kick things off in true Hollywood fashion, we’re joined by the incredibly glamorous, genuine, and all-around amazing Mary Bonnet from Selling Sunset! You probably know her from selling multi-million-dollar homes and dealing with the occasional Netflix drama, but in this episode, but did you know Mary has been named one of Variety’s 40 Most Powerful Women on Reality TV and as Vice President at the famous Oppenheim Group, she has established herself as a top-tier agent in the competitive Los Angeles market with total sales of +140M to date.

The Mind Full Podcast is the latest offering in comedian, broadcaster & best-selling author Dermot Whelan’s highly successful Mind Full adventure. The Mind Full Podcast is a home for people whose minds are…well, full! Dermot explores the topics that can help us to calm a frantic mind, understand our behaviour and explore our own potential.
With a new topic of focus each week in discussion with an exciting array of guests ranging from Hollywood stars, musicians and broadcasters to expert technical contributors from the world of science, listeners will get the best information to help them make positive changes in their lives and create that mental space to live their days with more joy.

In this episode of The Mind Full Podcast, I sit down with the wonderful Dr Mary O’Kane to talk about what it really means to raise brave, resilient kids – and why “perfect” parenting isn’t the goal. If you’ve ever found yourself negotiating with a toddler before 7am or questioning every decision you make, you’re in good company.
Mary, author of Perfectly Imperfect Parenting, gently challenges the idea that we need to correct our children’s behaviour, and instead invites us to connect with what’s really going on underneath. We chat about tantrums, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and why neither kids nor adults can simply “calm down” on demand.
I absolutely loved this conversation. Mary brings such warmth, humour, and deep understanding to both parents and children. If you’ve ever wondered, “Am I doing this right?”, this episode might help you be a little more patient – and a lot kinder to yourself.

She has just released her brand new and incredibly honest book Selling Sunshine which has become an instant bestseller. Outside of her professional achievements, Mary stands out amongst her peers because of her honesty, integrity, and authenticity, opening up about her own challenging personal experiences.
In this episode, Mary is opening up in ways you’ve never seen. She talks candidly about her journey, including deeply personal struggles like miscarriage and finding love, and somehow we even end up talking about her two dogs, Zelda and Thor.

Exploring Happiness with Psychologist Louize Carroll
But that’s not all! We’re also diving deep into happiness – what it is, why it’s so bloody hard to pin down, and how we can all get a little more of it. Joining me to unpack it all is psychologist Louize Carroll from Prism Therapy Online and wiselyattached.com.
We chat about some real head-scratchers like:
- What really makes us happy?
- Are we chasing the wrong kind of happiness?
- Can sadness actually be the key to finding fulfilment?
If you’ve ever wondered whether you’re falling into happiness traps (psst…we all are), well then this fascinating conversation is sure to leave you with plenty of food for thought and some practical tips for bringing more joy and fulfilment into your own life.
So, tune in, and don’t forget to check out Mary’s new book Selling Sunshine—it’s packed with wisdom, warmth, and a whole lot of honesty.

This week, I am delighted to share this episode with you which takes you on the journey that I had on both my treks to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and to reach Mount Everest Base Camp – neither of which I could have done without being armed with the right supports, prep-work and people alongside me.
In this episode you will hear audio recordings that I recorded on both journeys. I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in spring 2004 and reached Mount Everest Base Camp just a few weeks ago.
Before I started on this whole journey, I wished that I could have listened to a podcast with someone with whom I could relate who could tell answer questions that I had such as:
-What’s the training like?
-What kind of gear do I need?
-What are the people like who take these trips?
-How fit do you need to be?
-What is altitude sickness like (and how do you avoid it?!).
Sit back, relax and enjoy as I take you on two of the most incredible journeys!
